Sunny Isles Beach Residents’ Academy is a 7-session course that will introduce residents to the operations of the City of Sunny Isles Beach.

The Academy will explain the policy process, public service delivery and describe how our local government addresses some of its most challenging issues.

The Academy provides participants with the information, resources, and tools they need to become knowledgeable community members and effective neighborhood leaders. These structured courses will build upon your knowledge of public administration and provide a foundation in local government operations. Course sessions include instruction, conversations, observations, and hands-on activities demonstrating the variety of city services that are provided to residents. Upon completion of this course, participants will:

• Understand the operations of the City of Sunny Isles Beach and its relationship to public administration, politics, and the policy process more fully
• Understand the City of Sunny Isles Beach’s government structure and the role of residents in the decision-making process
• Understand procedures for making their opinion and concerns known to local government

Residents' Academy is FREE, but registration is required and participants must be 17+ and live in Sunny Isles Beach. Priority registration will be given to residents who have not taken the course in the past.

You can apply for and renew your Sunny Isles Beach Resident ID Card online or in-person at city facilities. Residents can apply and pick up their cards at any one of our three facilities during regular business hours:

To apply for a new Sunny Isles Beach Resident ID Card, you will need:
• Government-Issued Photo Identification (i.e. driver’s license, passport)
• Current Deed (for owners) / Lease (for renters - duration must be 1 year)
• Renters must also provide a letter from the condo/management office stating who resides in the unit.

Along with two of the following items:
• Current Vehicle Registration AND Insurance
• Utility Bill (i.e. electric, home phone, cable) - within last 3 months (mobile phone bills are NOT accepted)
• Credit/Debit Card Statement from the last 3 months
