Holiday Classics, Music And Laughs Part 1 - Fun Is Waiting To Be Unwrapped This December At The Parker

Audiences will enjoy unwrapping an eclectic mix of holiday favorites and more this December at The Parker in the Lillian S. Wells Hall, with classics performed by South Florida Symphony Orchestra: Handel’s Messiah, Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra - Christmas Classics New & Old, and joyous tunes with electrifying choreography from Broadway performers in Under the Streetlamp: Hip to the Holidays, as well as an exciting lineup that brings the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, laughs from David Sedaris, Brian Regan, Sheng Wang and Lewis Black, a sprinkle of magic from Jen Kramer, and rock music from Alan Parsons, Broadway’s Rock of Ages Band, Zebra throughout December.

Celebrate the season as the Preservation Hall Jazz Band returns to The Parker as part of the TD Bank Jazz Series on Sunday, December 1st at 7:00 p.m. It's a Creole Christmas as the band performs New Orleans classics as well as some of the best-loved holiday selections with a twist. Generously underwritten by the Thomas Family Foundation.

An Evening with David Sedaris, presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Innovation Arts, brings the best-selling humorist and regular National Public Radio contributor to The Parker in a rescheduled performance on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, Sedaris slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness as a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today. He recently released “A Carnival of Snackery” and “Pretty Ugly” following his previous bestsellers “Calypso,” “Naked,” “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.” Sedaris will be offering a selection of all-new readings and recollections, as well as a Q&A session and book signing. In a performance presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Live Nation, Brian Regan performs as part of the Truist Comedy Series on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. His specials, “Brian Regan: On The Rocks” and “Brian Regan: Nunchucks and Flamethrowers,” as well as his series “Stand Up And Away! With Brian Regan” are streaming on Netflix. In addition to starring for three seasons as Mugsy in Peter Farrelly's TV series “Loudermilk,” he is a regular guest on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and made 28 appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Regan can also be seen as a guest on two episodes of Jerry Seinfeld's “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” on Netflix. This event is not appropriate for children under 12.

Under the Streetlamp: Hip to the Holidays delivers an electrifying show driven by an inspired catalog of classic Doo Wop, Motown and rock and roll hits Thursday, December 5th at 7:30 p.m. Four dynamite Broadway performers and an ensemble of world-class musicians perform a joyous concert packed with smooth harmonies, soul-touching music and stories and thrilling choreography as they perform favorite holiday tunes as well as songs from the American Radio Songbook including "I'll be Home for Christmas," "Santa Bring My Baby Back," "Run Run Rudolph" and "Avé Maria." Streetlamp has been dazzling audiences across the globe for over a decade with its five PBS specials airing to more than 300 million viewers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Comedian, actor and writer Sheng Wang performs at The Parker on Friday, December 6th at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Truist Comedy Series. His first Netflix special “Sweet & Juicy,” released in September 2023, was produced and directed by Ali Wong. He was a featured stand-up on HBO's "2 Dope Queens" special and also wrote for the ABC show "Fresh Off the Boat."

Lewis Black: Goodbye Yeller Brick Road, The Final Tour comes to The Parker as part of the Truist Comedy Series in an event presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Live Nation on Sunday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. Known as the king of the rant, Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and animated finger-pointing to skewer anything and anyone that gets under his skin. His comedic brilliance lies in his ability to make people laugh at the absurdities of life with topics that include current events, social media, politics and anything else that exposes the hypocrisy and madness he sees in the world. Black has appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” “Larry King Live,” “Piers Morgan Tonight,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’ Brian,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” CNN and MSNBC. He has garnered critical praise as well as commercial success with his bestselling books “Nothing’s Sacred,” “Me of Little Faith” and “I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas.” This event contains adult language or content.

Grammy®-Winning Progressive Rock icon Alan Parsons returns to Fort Lauderdale when the Broward Center and AEG Presents bring The Alan Parsons Live Project: Reset And Power Back On Tour to The Parker as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:30 p.m. Since 1976, The Alan Parsons Project has crafted a distinctive sound that has cultivated a dynamic musical landscape unlike anyone else. In between creating Gold and Platinum Winning albums of their own, Parsons was integral to the creation of iconic albums such as Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon,” Ambrosia’s self- titled album and The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” and “Let It Be.”

The Musical Box - Genesis' "Selling England By The Pound" 50th Anniversary brings their high quality reproductions of historic Genesis performances to The Parker on Wednesday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Cleveland Clinic Rock Series. Through exhaustive visual, scenic, audio and musical research that includes tracking down the original musical instruments used at the time, The Musical Box has been taking fans on a time-traveling ride that relives the magic of the original performances since 1993. The visual aspect of The Musical Box shows are based on thousands of photos and many amateur films taken at the Genesis concerts, as well as the original slides used by the group during their shows. Impressively, The Musical Box is the only group licensed and supported by Genesis and Peter Gabriel and has presented close to 1,000 concerts across the world to more than one million spectators in prestigious amphitheaters from The Royal Albert Hall in London to the Olympia in Paris and the Bell Center in Montreal.

The lights go down, familiar horns pipe up from a world-class orchestra and the piano twinkles like the jackpot lights on a winning slot machine when Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra - Christmas Classics New & Old comes to The Parker as part of the Baptist Health Red Carpet Series on Thursday, December 12th at 8:00 p.m. in a concert presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and AEG Presents. The Grammy® Award Winner and Multi Platinum Musician sounds just as at home paying homage to the catalog of Frank Sinatra as he does with his band, Tremonti, or shredding his soul out as the guitarist for Alter Bridge and Creed. Tremonti cut 14 classics accompanied by surviving members of Sinatra's band as well as various top-notch players for his album “Tremonti Sings Sinatra,” which he gifted to the National Down Syndrome Society as part of his new organization, Take A Chance For Charity.

Also at The Parker this December is the South Florida Symphony Orchestra: Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, December 7th, Meg Segreto’s Dance Centre: Happy Holidays! on Saturday, December 14th and The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine: Swan Lake on Friday, December 27th.
