Fall into Fun and Fitness with Broward County Transit!
- Let BCT take you where you want to go

November 14, 2024

Broward County is a mecca of fun and a mixing bowl of multicultural activities. It is also a recreational haven for health and fitness. With agreeable South Florida sunny weather -- most of the time -- and various transportation options, residents and visitors alike are drawn to the area for over-the-top experiences. So, this fall, Broward County Transit (BCT) encourages people to leave their cars behind and take BCT to these exciting places around town. Regardless of a sprinkle or shine or even an occasional cool breeze, these outdoor activities from entertainment to exercise draw hundreds of thousands of people every season, and BCT wants to get them there.

Areas like Hollywood and Hallandale Beach are packed with exciting events and fitness enthusiasts, and as the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors. From the monthly Hollywood Downtown Art Walk every third Saturday to Movie Night Under the Stars at Hollywood’s ArtsPark at Young Circle and even daily walks on Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, these outings are ideal for meeting new people, enjoying the beautiful fall evenings and hopping on BCT to get there.

Get Out, Walk, and Ride BCT
. For many residents, the combination of local events and fitness is a perfect match. The convenience of being able to use BCT and then walking to a neighborhood event is a great way to keep moving while leaving the car and stress behind. It increases physical activity and helps people get in their daily steps as they walk that last stretch to a highly anticipated Broward County experience.

In highlighting the benefits of fall fitness, Lori Wiggins of the University of Florida who specializes in youth and adult health explains, “Fall is a great time to change up your workout routine. Your body can get used to doing the same activities, which can lead to a fitness plateau. Walking, for example, is a great way to keep active while enjoying the cooler weather.”

Take an Easy, Affordable Ride on BCT
Parking availability and costs are key factors in enjoying many experiences. In Broward County, parking can cost $3–$4 per hour and more than $100 flat rate for large events like concerts and playoffs. According to a recent INRIX Parking Study survey, American drivers reportedly spend up to 17 hours per year just searching for parking. Many residents are opting for transit to save time and avoid parking hassles altogether. With BCT fares at just $2 per ride or even cheaper with discounts, it’s an affordable alternative to parking fees.

So, make the most of this fall season by connecting to local events, staying active, and letting BCT serve as your go-to for getting there! To learn more about BCT fares and discounts, neighborhood events, and how to use BCT to get there, visit: www.broward.org/BCT
