“Anthropologist’s Delight,” Opens October 4th: ArtServe Invites Local Artists To Imagine How They’ll Be Remembered In a Thousand Years

September 12, 2024

When anthropologists unearth our present-day culture a thousand years from now, what will the artwork they find tell them about us and how we lived? ArtServe posed this question to its local member artists and invited them to display the artwork they feel best represents themselves, their lives, family and culture in an exhibit, Anthropologist’s Delight, which opens Friday, October 4th with a FREE reception from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale.

“Humans have been creating art for as long as we’ve been on the Earth,” ArtServe CEO Jason Hughes said. “What they’ve left behind has taught us so much about human nature, what we valued back then, what the world looked like at that time and how important community has always been for us ever since.”

Anthropologist’s Delight, which features all types of mediums and focuses on the themes of legacy, culture, humanities and personal interpretations of what being an artist means, is on display through Friday, January 3rd and will be open for viewing on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1st.

ArtServe is located at 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304 and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Daily admission is FREE.

ArtServe inspires, supports and advances its diverse members, artists and community by promoting artistic development, education and prosperity through the exploration and presentation of the visual and performing arts.
