Ahoy, Dania Beach! It’s That Time Of Year Again, When Locals And Visitors Alike Come Together For The Highly Anticipated Annual Earth Day beach Clean-Up. On Monday, April 21st, 2025, From 4:00 p.m. To 6:00 p.m., The City Will Host Its Fifth Annual Event, Offering An Exciting And Meaningful Opportunity To Protect the Shoreline And Enjoy Some Fun Along The Way.

This year’s theme, “Pirates for a Pristine Beach,” will add an adventurous twist to the clean-up, transforming it into a thrilling treasure hunt. Volunteers of all ages, from local schools, non-profits, neighborhoods and businesses, are invited to scour Dania Beach’s shoreline for litter “booty,” all while helping preserve the coastal beauty the city is known for.

For five years now, the community has come together each Earth Day to help keep Dania Beach’s coastline clean and healthy. Commissioner Joyce L. Davis, who has been instrumental in organizing the event, is passionate about its long-term impact. "For five years, we’ve been bringing the community together to care for our beach, and this year, we’re making it an adventure," said Davis. "Keeping Dania Beach pristine is a commitment we all share. It’s not just about one day—it’s about preserving the beauty and health of our coastline for generations to come."

Dania Beach, located in Broward County, Florida, boasts some of the most beautiful and unspoiled coastal landscapes in the area, and residents take great pride in the natural resources that surround them. The annual clean-up is a vital part of maintaining the beach’s environmental health. Every year, volunteers play an essential role in removing litter and debris that can harm local wildlife and pollute the waters.

Volunteers will be tasked with searching for and collecting litter "booty," such as plastic bottles, wrappers, and fishing nets, all while embodying their inner pirates. The concept is designed to make the clean-up experience more fun and interactive, especially for kids and families, while still emphasizing the serious responsibility of keeping the beach clean.

The event will also feature several pirate-themed contests and activities, making it a perfect opportunity for families, friends and groups to come together for an afternoon of community involvement. Volunteers can expect to see fun prizes, face painting, even some light bites and sweet treats to keep the energy high and the atmosphere festive.

Participants will also enjoy music throughout the event, helping set the tone for a lively and enjoyable afternoon. Whether it’s dancing to some tunes or simply enjoying the vibe, there’s something for everyone at this Earth Day celebration.

As a token of appreciation for their hard work, volunteers will receive a commemorative T-shirt and the opportunity to log community service hours—perfect for students looking to fulfill service requirements. Additionally, free parking will be available for all volunteers, making it easy for everyone to participate, regardless of where they’re coming from.

The event is a fantastic chance for residents, tourists and those who may not have participated before to get involved in environmental stewardship. It’s a reminder that taking care of our planet is an ongoing responsibility, one that extends beyond Earth Day itself.

Earth Day, Every Day

While the annual clean-up is an exciting occasion, the City of Dania Beach reminds everyone that Earth Day should be every day. To help residents continue their environmental efforts year-round, the city has set up clean-up stations along the beach. These stations are equipped with baskets that visitors can use to collect litter while they enjoy the coastal environment. It’s a simple yet effective way to ensure that the community remains engaged in protecting the natural beauty of the area.

The clean-up stations are a great resource for those who may not be able to attend the annual event but still want to do their part in keeping Dania Beach clean. The city’s commitment to sustainability is evident in these small but significant efforts, which help create a more environmentally conscious community.

The Dania Beach Earth Day clean-up isn’t just about collecting trash—it’s about fostering a collective sense of environmental stewardship and building stronger community connections. Every piece of litter removed from the shoreline represents a small victory in the battle against pollution and the preservation of marine life.

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds come together each year with one shared mission: to make the beach a better place for future generations. This sense of unity is at the heart of the event and plays a critical role in cultivating an environmentally responsible community. By showing up for just a couple of hours, participants become part of a much larger movement that has the power to create lasting change.

How to Get Involved

Those interested in participating in this year’s "Pirates for a Pristine Beach" clean-up are encouraged to gather their families, friends and co-workers to make a difference. Not only will they be part of an exciting adventure, but they will also contribute to a cause that impacts the entire community.
